“O son, this is your mother’s hope and prayer, that you may never forget the Lord, Har,
Har, even for an instant. May you ever vibrate upon the Lord of the Universe.”

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

Motherly Blessings

(Mother of Khalsa) Mata Sahib Kaur Ji

From the moment a child is born, an overwhelming feeling of love, protection and hope for worldly and spiritual happiness follows this joyous occasion. Naturally, parents try to nurture their child into someone who succeeds in all endeavours.

Mata Sahib Kaur Ji (the Mother of the Khalsa) is every Sikh’s spiritual mother. Just as a mother wishes for her child’s happiness, Mata Ji eternally wishes for our joy, harmony and bliss. With Mata Ji’s blessings, we become intuitively connected to a higher energy, which brings positivity into all our efforts – including a blissful married life.

Gurdwara Sewewala Sahib

Gurdwara Sewewala Sahib is the first and only historic place in Northern India dedicated to the Mother of the Khalsa, Mata Sahib Kaur Ji. The Gurdwara is based in the beautiful, traditional village of Gumti Khurd (Faridkot, Punjab), which is steeped in the diverse and mysterious heritage of India. Mata Sahib Kaur Ji was renowned for arranging the marriages of girls from all faiths and walks of life. At Gurdwara Sewewala Sahib, we are continuing this great sewa by offering an exquisite Anand Karaj to enlighten the lives of couples and their families

“They are not said to be husband and wife who merely sit together. Rather, they alone are called husband and wife, who have one soul in two bodies.”

Jagjit Singh & Baljinder Kaur Married: November 2017

Our Anand Karaj at Gurdwara Sewewala Sahib was a magical day after a beautiful week full of spiritual celebrations of Mata Sahib Kaur Ji’s Parkash Purab (birth). Both families loved the idyllic setting of the Gurdwara and all guests felt the serene bliss of the day. The wedding organisation was stress free with lots of support in arranging lovely accommodation, chauffeur services for airport transfers and visiting bridal boutiques and personalised, delicious, traditional Punjabi menu. The day was full of smiles, joy, flowers, blessings and yummy cake! We have made many memories from our Anand Karaj at Gurdwara Sewewala Sahib, which will keep making us smile for the rest of our lives.

Harjeet Singh & Kamaljit Kaur Married: November 2017

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. Our guests continuously commented on how well they were looked-after at the Gurdwara Sahib, from comfortable accommodation through to delicious food. The Gurdwara was decorated beautifully and the lights added that extra magical glow. We were married in the early hours. It was so peaceful and charming. Having both Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Dasam Granth Sahib Ji Parkash (present) was such a huge blessing for us. The kirtan was of such high standard that it naturally put us into a spiritual trance. We cannot thank both Baba Gurbax Singh Ji and Baba Karandeep Singh Ji enough for guiding us and making our wedding dreams come true in such a magical way.

Satnam Singh & Amrit Kaur Married: November 2017

Satnam: I wasn’t sure what to anticipate, if I’m honest. Sikhi for me is all about blind faith, so there wasn’t anything to worry about. A year on and it’s nice to reflect. Grist Jeevan (married life) has changed me for the better, with Guru Sahib’s Kirpa (blessings). With Singhni in my life, I consider it easier to focus on the main aim: building that Prem (love) with Guru Sahib. I personally feel that having our Anand Karaj at such a blessed Gurdwara has given us a great start to married life.
Amrit: Prior to our Anand Karaj, my last trip to Punjab was 21 years ago. I hadn’t visited Gurdwara Sewewala Sahib before but I had heard stories about what a blissful, peaceful and spiritual place it was. Usually, typical weddings are stressful, with a neverending to-do list. Getting married at this Gurdwara was a massive blessing and I’m extremely grateful. It felt so personal and special, the entire focus being on our relationship with Guru Sahib. The Gurdwara has such a rich history and strong vibrations; I’d urge everyone to go!

Nardeep Singh & Ekjot Kaur Married: November 2018

With Maharaj’s kirpa, our wedding took place at Sewewala Sahib. We’d never been to an Indian village before, so it was a bit of a culture shock at first. We had initially been unsure about getting married in India, but we were pleasantly surprised. We spent a whirlwind week organising our wedding, and when the big day arrived, OMG it was blessed! Our wedding ceremony was out of this world. There was a beautiful, spiritual energy present, with sangat from all over the world, even from Takhat Sri Hazoor Sahib. With the blessings of our spiritual mother, Mata Sahib Kaur Ji’s smagam taking place, we could really feel her presence. We’re very thankful to Guru Ji for this experience.
